Senior Vice President, Circulating and Trade Publishing
Jill Lectka is senior vice president of circulating and trade publishing for Gale, one of the world's leading print and e-reference publishers for libraries, schools and businesses across the globe. In this position, Ms. Lectka manages the publishing program for Thorndike Press, Greenhaven Press and Sleeping Bear Press.
Ms. Lectka began her career with Gale in 1999 with the acquisition of Macmillan Library Reference. At Macmillan, she managed an editorial team that published the award-winning Encyclopedia of Education in 2002 and the Encyclopedia of Children and Childhood in 2003. In 2004, Ms. Lectka moved to Maine to become the vice president and general manager of Thorndike Press. At Thorndike, Ms. Lectka launched a successful publishing initiative in which the large print edition of many bestsellers coincides with publication of the original edition.
Ms. Lectka's publishing career began as a sales representative for the Macmillan College Division in Washington, D.C. She moved to New York with Macmillan in 1991, where she worked as the acquisitions editor for Economics and helped produce the bestselling textbook Microeconomics, Third Edition by Pindyck and Rubinfeld. In 1993, she became the acquisitions editor for psychology at HarperCollins College Publishing where she supervised the release of Psychology, Fourth Edition by Wade and Tavris. In 1995, she became the music editor for Schirmer Books, an imprint of Macmillan Library Reference. In addition to music, Ms. Lectka supervised the Twayne list of literary criticism.
Ms. Lectka has a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature and Political Science from the University of Michigan.
